Il Nascondiglio is a small two-storey house with a garden that dates back to the early 1900s and is located in the splendid hills of Caprese Michelangelo in the province of Arezzo. The picturesque medieval hill town has around 1,500 inhabitants and was the birthplace of the incomparable master Michelangelo Buonarroti. Caprese Michelangelo is also known for a unique variety of chestnuts, which have been granted DOP status (equivalent to DOCG wines) and which can only be grown in Caprese Michelangelo and a part of Anghiari called ‘Marrone di Caprese Michelangelo’.
Shops, supermarkets, banks, etc. can all be found in Caprese Michelangelo along with several excellent restaurants, known for the quality of their cuisine and use of local produce, including wild boar, mushrooms and truffles.
Il Nascondiglio is located in a small countryside hamlet in the municipality of Caprese and is set out over two floors for a total of c. 40 sqm as follows:
- Ground floor: kitchen and bathroom
- First floor: double bedroom and single bedroom.
The property has wooden-framed windows with single glazing and wooden shutters in good condition. The floors are tiled for easy cleaning. Heating is via electric heaters, one in the kitchen and the second in the master bedroom although there is an old diesel boiler that no longer works in the boiler room. The property is connected to the national electricity grid and the municipal water supply.
In front of the property, there is a small, paved area with the original wood-burning oven and access to the fenced garden of c. 160 sqm via stairs which also lead to the storage rooms and the boiler room.
Lastly, not far from the property there is also a useful garage of c. 14 sqm, ideal for a car, bicycles, scooters, tools, etc.
Il Nascondiglio requires some renovation but could easily be transformed into a delightful retreat to escape from the city and enjoy the fresh air and walks in the beautiful local countryside.
